JV team completes undefeated season The Ouachita junior varsity football team capped a perfect season with a dominating win Monday as the Lions rolled to a 34-0 victory over West Ouachita. The win gives the Ouachita JV squad a 7-0 record for the 2011 season. The Lions wasted little time jumping on the Chiefs as Stephen Doublin returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown. Ouachita then cruised to a 28-0 halftime lead with TDs from Dearius Rollins, Garrett Douglas, and Andrew Skerlong. Anthony Hargrave capped the scoring when he broke free for a long TD run on Ouachita's first offensive play of the third quarter. In the freshman game, Ouachita overcame a 16-0 deficit to beat West Ouachita, 37-24. The OPHS JV team finishes the season with a 4-5 record. 10-3-11 JV Lions top Rebels to remain undefeated Dearius Rollins ran for three touchdowns, including two in the second half, as the Ouachita junior varsity football team rallied to defeat West Monroe 34-23 Monday at Rebel Stadium. Ouachita (5-0) trailed 16-12 at halftime, but the Lions took a 20-16 lead in the third quarter on a 68-yard TD pass from Garrett Douglas to Quin Wilson. The Rebels added a TD a short time later to regain the lead, but Rollins tacked on two TD runs, including the clincher with 5:48 to play, to lif the Lions to a victory. West Monroe took an early 7-0 lead before Ouachita tied the game at 7 on a Rollins TD run. West Monroe extended its lead to 16-7 on a safety and TD before Ouachits trimmed the deficit to 16-13 on a Jalen Tolliver TD. In the freshman game, West Monroe defeated Ouachita 36-7. The OPHS freshman and JV teams are scheduled to play again next Monday at home against the Ruston Bearcats. |
